Clean your instruments!
· Brass: Weekly mouthpiece cleaning which includes putting the mouthpiece in a cup of boiling water with a bit of vinegar and then scrub out with mouthpiece brush (don't put in a pot of boiling water!). Warm water baths with a bit of dish soap, get that snake down the lead pipe and slides closest to mouthpiece receiver. Don't put valves in the sink or tub. Clean the kitchen and bathroom after you're done! Bonus marks!

· Woodwinds: Weekly disinfecting of mouthpiece with warm water and vinegar, also wipe your reeds down and don't use them if they are green. Yuck. Daily swabbing after each practice session to keep your instrument dry inside, yes practice everyday, why not, and also clean your room and do your own laundry, bonus marks!
